The outstanding Italian jazz vocalist, Simona De Rosa, joins the Polish jazz trio Confusion Project to present material from the new, jointly written and recorded album "Feathers". The artists will present on stage a fresh and inventive fusion of jazz and ethnic music, reaching for the folklore of both Simonas native part of Naples, as well as the folk music of Spain, China and Kazakhstan. Latin America, Lebanon and Vietnam, all in a modern version typical of Confusion Project.
The choice of these cultures as inspiration is the result of in-depth research, as well as the personal memories of the artist herself, who has visited and still visits the farthest corners of the globe to explore and study the beauty of folklore from various parts of the world.
Artists have been collaborating with each other for a long time. Simona met Michał Ciesielski, leader of Confusion Project in China, in 2018, and they have been working together regularly since then. Confusion Project accompanied Simona on 3 tours around Poland (in 2023 and twice in 2025), concerts in Germany, Italy and a tour around China in 2024.
Simona De Rosa - Italian singer, composer, teacher, from Naples. She graduated with honors from Queens College in New York with a masters degree. For many years she was an active artist on the New York jazz scene, contributing to the development of Italian culture in New York. After an artistic residency in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2018, she moved to China, where in 2018-2022 she was a lecturer at the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy and an active artist on the Chinese jazz scene. After returning to Europe, she lived in Berlin, simultaneously teaching jazz vocals in Trieste, Italy, and actively performing in Europe and beyond. In the fall of 2024, she completed a one-month residency in Almaty, Kazakhstan. For several years, apart from singing jazz, he has been exploring ethnic music, both in his native lands and in distant places around the world.
On the artists previous album - Djenub - you can hear folk melodies from Naples, but also folk songs from Vietnam and China.
The theme of inspiration from folklore is continued on the latest album, as you will see during the concert in Jassmine.
Simona De Rosa introduced herself to the Polish audience for the first time many years ago during the Voicingers festival in Żory, and then during a 12-concert tour around Poland in the summer of 2023, which she performed together with Confusion Project, with whom she will perform in Jassmine.
Confusion Project is a trio on the border of jazz/prog-jazz/jazz fusion, founded in 2013 in Gdańsk. Since then, the band has recorded 6 studio albums, 2 live albums, played several hundred concerts in Poland and abroad (Lithuania, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, China, Russia, Kazakhstan), and established several fruitful musical collaborations with leading musicians of the Polish and international jazz scene. Over the 13 years of their activity, the band has developed its own unique musical language, which, as the musicians themselves claim, is their way of telling stories. A characteristic feature of Confusion Projects music is its illustrative, programmatic dimension. The bands latest two studio albums - "Primal" and "Last" - are concept albums that have a plot hidden in the music and a truly cinematic drama. Therefore, in the style of Confusion Project, apart from the influences of jazz, progressive rock, drum & bass and classical music, you can also hear clear inspirations from film music. On the latest album recorded with Simona De Rosa, these aspects are additionally intertwined with elements of folk music, which gives the album a unique atmosphere.
