About this event
Cyryl Lewczuk Quartet is a jazz formation composed of young, talented jazz creators, mainly graduates of the Faculty of Jazz and Popular Music of the Academy of Music in Katowice. The band mainly performs original compositions. The artists use various jazz styles, from straight-ahead jazz through Latin jazz to post-bop. They performed, among others, at the 26th Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa festival and the 60th edition of the Jazz nad Odrą festival, where they received a special award sponsored by the Wrocław Culture Zone in the Jazz Individuality Competition. Wojtek Siwek. In 2025, the band was awarded in the Bielsko Zadymka Jazzowa Competition. Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, and the final concert was broadcast on Radio Katowice.

The compositions of the Cactus Flower album are musical images. In its original material, the Cyryl Lewczuk Quartet presents a whole range of colors, emotions and moods. The artists draw from various jazz styles. They reach for the tradition of program music, stimulating the listeners imagination and inviting them to the world of fantasy.

Cyryl Lewczuk – saxophonist and jazz composer, leader of the Cyryl Lewczuk Quartet. He is a laureate of international and national competitions, including: 2nd place in the "New Hope of Jazz" competition during the "Novum Jazz Festival" 2023 in Łomża and 2nd place in the 9th National Competition of Jazz and Entertainment Bands School & Jazz Festival 2023 in Lubaczów. His compositions are inspired by Polish jazz masters. He realizes his compositional visions in cooperation with friends he met in the academic environment. In the years 2019-2024 he studied at the Faculty of Jazz and Popular Music of the Academy of Music in Katowice, and in 2024 he received a DAAD scholarship for masters studies in Germany and continues his education at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg. He actively gives concerts and takes part in numerous festivals and music projects.

Karol Malczewski - pianist and composer from Olsztyn, graduate of the Academy of Music in Poznań (class of Krzysztof Dys) and the Academy of Music in Krakow, majoring in jazz piano (class of Dominik Wania). In his work, he combines the language of classical music with jazz form, inspired by, among others, Lennie Tristano and Alexander Scriabin. Winner of numerous awards, including: Grand Prix of the Olimpico Jazz Contest 2024 and Mieczysław Kosz, finalist of the Novum Jazz Festival and distinguished at the Blue Note Jazz Competition 2024 and 2025. He actively gives concerts in Poland and abroad, collaborated with the Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and artists such as Kasia Moś, Igor Herbut and Adam Sztaba. In 2025, he released his debut album "ICO" with the Karol Malczewski Trio.
Stefan Raczkowski – drummer and composer. He graduated in classical percussion from the Academy of Music in Krakow and also studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In 2020, he also graduated in jazz percussion in the class of prof. Adam Buczek on AM in Katowice. He is a laureate of international competitions (including European Solo Competition, Jazz Juniors, Internationalen Marimba Wettbewerb) and a scholarship holder of the capital city of Warsaw. Warsaw (Sapere Auso), the Minister of National Education and the Minister of Culture (Young Poland). He cooperates with bands of various musical genres, performing at festivals in Poland and abroad. Creator of the "superminimalism" project. He is also involved in fine arts.
Jan Dudek – jazz double bassist, improviser and composer. A graduate of bachelors studies at the Faculty of Jazz and Popular Music of the Academy of Music in Katowice in the jazz double bass class of prof. Michał Barański. He continues his education at masters studies. He is interested in electronic music, jazz and ambient and combines these genres in his improvisations. His inspirations include Joe Henderson, Luiz Bonfá and Matt Brewer. He gives concerts regularly and takes part in numerous musical projects, including: Cyryl Lewczuk Quartet, Święto Osa, Natalia Marczuks band, with whom he won the "33 Showcase 2024" competition.
